Thanx Ordering Direct to Square is generally available, with franchise support
Thanx ordering now runs directly on Square. If you're on Square, you can launch online ordering without adding a separate ordering provider (previously, Thanx Ordering with Square POS required Olo). Brands running multiple Square accounts across franchisees are supported from day one.
What is it?
Thanx online ordering now integrates directly with Square. Payments run through Square, menus and locations sync automatically, and guests earn and redeem rewards at checkout with pricing and loyalty staying in sync. Setup starts with an authorization link from your Thanx team, then you configure the Thanx channel in your own Square Dashboard. The integration also supports franchise brands, so one brand can connect multiple franchisee Square accounts under a single Thanx program.
Why it matters
No second ordering provider to buy or manage. Square brands who wanted Thanx ordering previously had to add a separate ordering platform, switch POS, or launch without online ordering. That tradeoff is gone.
Payments stay with Square. Card payments process directly through Square, so card settlement and reporting stay in Square. Gift card payments are handled separately.
Built for franchises. The franchisor approves Thanx once, each franchisee keeps running their own Square account, and guests earn and redeem across every location.
Menus maintain themselves. Items, modifiers, sold-out status, and menu hours sync from Square automatically, so your team updates the menu in one place.
Loyalty and ordering ship together. Guests earn and redeem at checkout, and cancellations and refunds sync back automatically, including the loyalty reversal.
How it works
Start onboarding from your Square Dashboard. Your locations and menus link to Thanx automatically.
Your Thanx team sends you a Square authorization link. Approve it, then set up the Thanx channel in your Square Dashboard under Online, Sales channels: location, menus, hours, and prep time. Your Square locations are matched to locations that already exist in Thanx.
Check that the menus you shared from your Square Item Library look right. Combos become a single item with modifiers, and subcategories are flattened into the parent category.
Your Thanx team sets up the pickup and delivery options you offer, then turns ordering on for each location when you're ready to launch. Finishing setup in Square doesn't make ordering live by itself.
Guests order, earn, and redeem. Card payments run through Square, and loyalty stays in sync with pricing at checkout.
For franchise setups, the franchisor approves Thanx once from the main Square account. Each franchisee then sets up the Thanx channel for their own locations from their own Square account. Thanx groups everything under your brand.
FAQs
Do I need a separate online ordering provider?
No. Thanx ordering runs directly on Square, so you don't need to add or keep a second ordering platform.
Can I run this across multiple franchisee Square accounts?
Yes. The franchisor approves Thanx once from the main Square account, then each franchisee sets up the Thanx channel for their own locations. It all runs under one Thanx loyalty program.
Do menu changes still happen in Square?
Yes. Items, modifiers, sold-out status, and menu hours sync from Square automatically. You keep managing the menu where you manage it today.
What handoff modes are supported?
ASAP and scheduled pickup, plus delivery dispatched through Uber or DoorDash via Thanx.
What happens when an order is canceled or refunded in Square?
Cancellations and full refunds sync to Thanx automatically, including reversing any loyalty that was earned or redeemed on the order.
I'm already on Thanx ordering with Square. Should I move?
There's a path to move over. Reach out to your Thanx team to talk through timing for your brand.
