Push notifications are faster and more reliable
Your biggest push campaigns now send in a fraction of the time.
What is it?
We rebuilt the infrastructure behind branded app push notifications and closed several reliability gaps. Three things changed: how fast a large campaign clears, whether time-sensitive messages get stuck behind marketing sends, and whether notifications can silently never arrive. This is live now for all branded apps.
Why it matters
A large campaign no longer takes hours to go out. A multi-million recipient push that used to take most of a morning now clears in well under an hour, so your send actually lands during the daypart you planned it for.
Order status updates jump the line. Order notifications now have their own dedicated lane, so a guest waiting on a pickup alert isn't stuck behind a marketing blast.
Capacity scales with demand. Sending capacity now grows automatically when volume spikes instead of staying fixed, so a big send day doesn't slow everything else down.
No more annual certificate expirations on iOS. Apple push used to depend on a credential that expired once a year and was renewed by hand. We moved to one that doesn't expire, removing a recurring way notifications could silently stop.
New app setups verify themselves. Android push setup for a new brand is now automatic and self-checking, so a bad configuration is caught at setup instead of discovered when a campaign doesn't arrive.
How it works
There is nothing to configure. Every improvement here is already live across all of our Thanx branded apps. To get the full benefit, keep your app on the latest build, which means keeping your developer account agreements current. Push delivery can also still be rate-limited by Apple, which is outside Thanx's control. Otherwise, keep building and sending campaigns exactly as you do today.
If you've seen push problems before
If your team has previously reported notifications that didn't arrive, or campaign sends that took far longer than expected, many of those issues trace back to the gaps fixed here. If you're still seeing problems, confirm your app is on the latest build, then raise it with your Thanx team so we can look at your specific app.
FAQs
Do I need to do anything?
No. These are infrastructure changes and they're already live.
Will my campaigns send differently?
You build and schedule them the same way. They'll clear faster, and order status notifications will no longer wait behind them.
Does this change how many notifications I can send?
There's no change to what you're able to send. The change is how quickly we can deliver it.
My guests stopped getting notifications at some point in the past. Was that this?
Possibly. One cause was an expiring Apple credential and another was a silent setup failure on Android, both of which are now fixed. If you're still seeing missing notifications, contact your Thanx team.
