New report: digital orders by payment type

AUTHOR: The Thanx team

A new report shows how guests pay for their digital orders, and which payment types get them through checkout.

What is it?

Digital orders by payment type breaks your digital order revenue out by how guests paid: card, gift card, or digital wallet (Apple Pay and Google Pay), with your app and your web ordering site shown side by side. A second section shows the cart conversion rate and the rejection rate for each payment type, so you can see which ones guests complete checkout with and which ones run into trouble. It works for every brand with integrated Thanx ordering.

Why it matters

  • See what your wallets are doing. If you've turned on Apple Pay or Google Pay, you can see how much of your digital revenue now runs through them, in the app and on web.

  • Find checkout friction by payment type. If one payment type converts lower or gets rejected more often, that's where guests are dropping off before they finish their order.

  • Compare app and web. The same payment type can perform differently on each. Seeing them next to each other tells you where to focus.

  • Track the trend. Revenue by payment type is shown over time, so you can see the mix shift after a change like adding a wallet.

How it works

  1. Go to Customers>Explore all reports in your dashboard.

  2. Select the Digital orders folder in the All reports menu.

  3. Open Digital orders by payment type (Apple Pay, Google Pay, Credit Card, and Gift Cards).

  4. At the top, set the order date range and choose how to group orders (for example, by week) to see app and web revenue by payment type.

  5. Below that, the How payment type affects cart conversion and order rejection section has its own date filter. It controls the four conversion and rejection charts for app and web.

FAQs

Which payment types are included?

Card, gift card, Apple Pay, and Google Pay. The revenue charts group Apple Pay and Google Pay together as Wallet. The conversion and rejection charts show each one separately.

Why don't I see Apple Pay or Google Pay?

Your brand may not offer them yet. Apple Pay and Google Pay are available for brands that use Olo Pay, at US locations. Talk to your Thanx team about turning them on.

Why does the lower section have its own date filter?

The revenue charts use the date the order was placed. The conversion and rejection charts use the date the cart was created, so they're filtered separately.

Do I need to turn anything on?

No. The report is available to every brand with integrated Thanx ordering.
