In-store purchase data now available for Qu, Square, PAR and NCR brands

You can now see item-level purchase data from in-store check-in transactions — and use it to build segments and view customer transaction history. No additional integration setup required.


What is it?

If your brand runs on Qu, Square, PAR or NCR, item-level purchase data from in-store check-in transactions now flows automatically into Thanx. This includes the specific items, quantities, and amounts from each order — the same level of detail previously available only for online orders.

This applies to check-in transactions. Card-linked transactions still record the total transaction amount, but not individual items.

Available now for all brands on Qu, Square, PAR and NCR. This integration feature was already available for brands on Toast POS.

Why it matters

Now you can segment by what customers order in person. Simply ask SegmentAI to target guests who regularly add a specific item, identify customers who haven't tried a new menu item, or build a high-value tier around known in-store order behavior.

How it works

If your POS is already integrated, then there’s no setup required. Item-level in-store purchase data flows automatically for Qu, Square, PAR and NCR brands using check-in. For Toast, brands will see purchase data automatically for check-in and card-linked. Once active, data appears in:

  • Segments: Build segments based on in-store item purchases — by item name, category, frequency, or spend amount

  • Guest Profile: View a guest's item-level purchase history under their account activity tab of the guest profile — in-store orders now show individual items

  • Feedback: Select a transaction to see item detail in the order details view for check-in transactions

Historical data is included, going back to when your POS integration launched or when your brand went live on Thanx, whichever is later. NCR merchants already have this data from day one, no backfill is needed. Note: backfilled data does not generate additional loyalty points.

In-store data updates in near real-time, typically within 2 minutes of a transaction.

Where to find it in Thanx

  • Segments: Customers → Segments → Create a new segment with SegmentAI

  • Guest Profile: Customers → All Customers → Account Activity tab → In-store orders now show individual item detail

  • Feedback: Feedback → Respond to customer feedback → Select a customer feedback → Order details now show individual items for check-in transactions

Keep in mind

  • Which brands get this? Brands on Toast, PAR (Brink), Qu, Square, or NCR using check-in. FranPOS and Shift4 are not yet supported.

  • What about card-linked transactions? Card-linked transactions record the total transaction amount only, not individual items. Item-level data requires check-in.

  • Does backfilled data generate loyalty points? No. Historical data is added to transaction history and becomes available for segmentation and reporting, but it does not trigger additional loyalty point awards.

  • How far back does the data go? Back to when your POS integration launched or when your brand went live on Thanx, whichever is later. NCR merchants already have this data from launch — no backfill needed.

  • Can I use this with Segment AI? Not yet for in-store orders. Segment AI for SKU data currently targets online ordering only. In-store check-in support is in development.

  • How quickly does in-store data appear? Typically within 2 minutes of a transaction.
