Partner-issued rewards can expire a set number of days after the guest receives them

Rewards issued through your connected partner tools can now expire a set number of days after each guest receives them, instead of on one shared calendar date.

What is it?

We've updated the Thanx Partner API so that a partner tool issuing rewards on your behalf, for example your email platform or CDP, can set each reward to expire a fixed number of days after the guest receives it. Before, campaigns run through partners needed a single calendar end date that applied to everyone.

Why it matters

  • Every guest gets the same redemption period. Previously, a guest who entered the campaign a day before that date got one day to redeem while a guest who entered on day one got the full window. That's an unfair experience and results in a weaker redemption rate at the end of the campaign.

  • Automated campaigns with rewards no longer require a fixed end date. Birthday, abandoned cart, and service recovery flows are meant to run continuously. They no longer need a fixed expiration date on the calendar.

  • Fewer campaigns to rebuild. If you've been resetting partner campaign end dates on a recurring basis to keep the window fair, that maintenance goes away.

  • Your redemption data gets cleaner. When everyone has the same window, redemption rates across a flow become comparable instead of skewed by when a guest happened to enter.

How it works

There's nothing to configure in your Thanx dashboard. The change is in our Partner API, so it takes effect through whichever partner tool issues your rewards.

  1. Talk to whoever manages your partner integration, this is usually your email, SMS, or CDP platform or the agency running it.

  2. Ask them to set a relative expiration window on the campaigns that issue Thanx rewards, anywhere from 1 to 999 days.

  3. From then on, each guest's reward expires that many days after they receive it.

Technical documentation is in the Partner API campaign docs.

This is separate from your dashboard expiration setting

This controls rewards issued through the Partner API by a connected tool. It is not the same as the expiration window you set on granted rewards in your dashboard.

FAQs

Do I need to change anything in my dashboard?

No. This is a Partner API change. It takes effect through the partner tool that issues your rewards.

Who do I talk to about turning this on?

Whoever manages the integration that issues your Thanx rewards, typically your email, SMS, or CDP platform, or the agency that runs it.

What windows are possible?

Anywhere from 1 to 999 days after the guest receives the reward.

Does this change rewards already issued?

No. It applies to rewards issued after your partner adopts the new setting.

Is this the same as granted reward expiration in my dashboard?

No. They're separate settings covering different paths. If you use both, make sure the windows are consistent.
