Apple Pay and Google Pay at web checkout for Olo Pay brands

Apple Pay and Google Pay are now available in Thanx ordering web checkout for brands with Olo Pay.

What is it?

If your brand uses Olo Pay, guests will be able to check out with Apple Pay or Google Pay on your web ordering site, on mobile and desktop, the same way they already can in your app. Standard card entry stays available.

You can also now see payment type and conversion rates in Digital orders by payment type reporting in your dashboard.

Why it matters

  • Remove friction when guests are ready to order. One tap instead of typing card details.

  • Matches your app. Guests who pay with a wallet in your app get the same option on web.

  • A safety net stays in place. If a wallet isn't available, guests check out with a card.

How it works

  1. Ask your Olo CSM to enable Olo Pay for web ordering. Once Olo confirms, your Thanx team turns on wallets for your web checkout.

  2. Guests with a card saved in Apple Wallet or Google Wallet see the wallet button alongside card entry (Apple Pay in Safari, Google Pay in Chrome).

  3. Guests without a wallet card, or on an unsupported browser, see standard card entry. Nothing is blocked.

Availability and limitations

  • Olo Pay merchants only. Wallets for other ordering providers are being explored separately.

  • US locations only. Olo Pay supports USD only, so Canadian locations can't offer Apple Pay or Google Pay on web or in the app.

  • Guests need a card in their wallet. The button only shows for guests who already have a card in Apple Wallet or Google Wallet, the same as in your app.

FAQs

How do I turn this on?

Ask your Olo CSM to enable Olo Pay for web ordering, then let your Thanx CSM know. We'll turn it on for your web checkout.

Why don't some guests see Apple Pay or Google Pay?

They don't have a card in their wallet, or they're on a browser that doesn't support it. They can still pay by card.

Does this work for my Canadian locations?

No. Olo Pay supports USD only.

Does this work for every ordering provider?

Not in this release. It's for Olo Pay merchants.
